Cosmic Catering's success is the work of the owner - Monique Campbell.

She has built a thriving business that gives back to the community. Cosmic has deep roots planted in the community through its work with such organizations as the B.C. Lung Association and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of B.C., Hospital Foundation, CNIB, Arts Centre Core Project and many local Seniors Groups.

Cosmic has supplied free lunches and turkey dinners for low-income families on Christmas Day through Maple Ridge's Christmas Haven organization.  Cosmic has also hosted several free dinners for the Canadian Institute of the Blind, in co-operation with the Maple Ridge Lions Club.  At one of these dinners, enough money was raised to purchase auditory units used to test children's hearing at a non-profit Maple Ridge hearing centre. At another CNIB dinner, enough money was raised to purchase a magnification unit that enlarges print for people with visually impairments. It has been installed at the Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre.  Cosmic has also supplied free dessert buffets for the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation's Gala Ball, the foundation's major annual fundraiser.  (In 1998, Monique even delivered one of these dessert buffets when she was nine months pregnant. She delivered Emily the next day.)

All this community service goes with Monique's many years of experience in the food service industry. Here's a little bit more about her.

Monique Campbell:
Monique served as general manager of Cosmic Catering for four years before purchasing the business in 1997. Born in Calgary, but raised in Maple Ridge, Monique got her start in the industry 32 years ago serving fries and gravy in the local Legion. Since then she has done everything from waitressing to bartending to cooking to wedding planning to designing menus to even playing music for her clients on their wedding days. "It's what I like to call full-service catering,"Monique says. Monique has also coordinated The TIMES Taste of Ridge Meadows, a showcase for local food establishments, train catering with part of proceeds to Arts Centre and is a member of the Maple Ridge Lions Club.
